This model is a precision-engineered mounting clip designed to solve the common problem of securing 2mm (approx. 1/16") acrylic or plexiglass to wooden frames or flat surfaces without drilling through the acrylic itself. Drilling close to the edge of acrylic often leads to cracking; these clips eliminate that risk by clamping the sheet securely from the perimeter.
Why use this design?
Edge-Clamping Action: The internal 2mm channel provides a snug fit for standard hobbyist acrylic sheets.
Reinforced Screw Boss: The mounting hole is designed with a thickened perimeter to handle the compression of a wood screw without splitting the plastic.
Low Profile: The geometry keeps the mounting hardware off the face of the acrylic, perfect for enclosures, picture frames, or DIY display cases.
Flush Fit: The base is completely flat to ensure the acrylic remains level with the mounting surface.
Print Recommendations
Orientation: Print the clip on its side (profile view) for maximum strength. This ensures the "hook" part of the clip isn't dependent on layer adhesion, making it much harder to snap.
Material: PETG or ASA are ideal for their slight flexibility and UV resistance. PLA is suitable for light-duty indoor applications but may become brittle over time.
Walls/Perimeters: Use at least 2-3 walls to ensure the screw hole is solid plastic.
Supports: No supports are required if printed on its side.
