Description

MissChanger v2 (MCv2) is a tool-changer based on the popular Voron Trident, with support Trident R2.

The project aims to provides a reliable tool-changer system to the Trident platform, while retaining compatibility with a wide range of extruders, hot-ends, and bed probes. Compatibility is achieved by adopting the existing A4T tool-head, and reusing the z-probe mounting system of the original x-carriage.

This project is the sequel to original MissChanger.

Notable features

  • Independence probing and tool-change mechanism

  • Tool-less removal of tool-head and dock.

  • Automated tool calibration, which also does not require firmware restart.

  • Low top-hat (35mm)

Compatibility

Printer

  • Voron Trident, 350mm (up to 5 tools)

  • Voron Trident, 300mm (up to 5 tools)

  • Voron Trident, 250mm (up to 4 tools)

Tool-head - A4T

  • High performance.

  • Compatibility with extruders and hotends.

  • Easy maintenance.

Hot-end

Any hot-ends that is compatible with the A4T tool-head (standard and high-flow) should works just fine. Nevertheless, the follows are those that has been tested on the reference machine:

  1. Revo Voron - Recommended.

    • Officially supported on the tool-head.

    • Has the the right amount of thermal mass to keep the nozzle temperature stable, while still have decent heat-up and cool-down time.

Extruder

Any extruders that is compatible with the A4T tool-head (standard and high-flow) should works with MCv2, with some small modifications for the mounting of the tool-head board. The following are extruders that has been tested on the reference machine:

  1. Roto Vitamin - Recommended

    • Side-mounted tool-head board.

  2. LDO Orbital 2.5

    • Front-mounted tool-head board, Not optimal. The wiring pokes out slightly toward the front, increase risk of damage due to collision with the stock front doors and the back the the other tools.

Bed Probe

MissChanger v2 has made room for physical compatibility with all probing solution that fit in the original Voron X-carriage. However, the user must take responsibility for their own software configuration. The default (and provided) config is for:

  1. Beacon D/H Low Profile - Recommended.

    • The Beacon system will take care of Homing customisation and absolute z-offset calibration out of the box. Thus, save time and config-writing headache.

Roadmap

  • Support A4T.

  • Nozzle Cleaner.

  • Optional feature 1, Active Chamber Temperature Management (ACTM).

  • Optional feature 2, Filament Changer.
