Modix BTT electronics box

This is an electronics enclosure for Modix printers, tested on both Modix V3 and Modix V4 machines.

The enclosure uses the same hole pattern for cables and connectors as the original Modix electronics box, but is designed to support more modern electronics setups. It provides mounting space for:

• A Raspberry Pi

• Either a Manta or an Octopus controller board

• A 140mm fan mounted in the top for active cooling

The design focuses on airflow, printability, and a clean, functional appearance.

Printing recommendations

This enclosure is designed for large-nozzle printing.

• Nozzle size: 0.6 mm

• Layer height: 0.3 mm

These settings provide good strength, clean walls, and reasonable print times for a part of this size.

Optional top fan grill

The center section in the top panel is optional and functions as a fan grill / airflow guard for the 140mm fan.

If used, it is intended to be sliced as infill-only:

• Infill only

• No top layers

• No bottom layers

• Recommended infill: 20% honeycomb

This results in a rigid, clean-looking grill that protects the fan while maintaining good airflow.
The grill can be omitted if a fully open fan cutout is preferred.

Threaded inserts

The enclosure is designed for heat-set threaded inserts to ensure a durable and serviceable assembly.

• M2.5 inserts for mounting the Raspberry Pi

• M3 short inserts for:

  • Controller board

  • Top cover
