I love having my JSAUX split protective case, but still wanted to use the charging grip due to the grip buttons. Though I did not want to keep taking the joycons out of the shell each time.
Parts used from joycon grip:
All the screws from the grip
Buttons attached to ribbon cable
Rubber button covers from inside
Other hardware needed:
Double sided tape (I used scotch double sided tape)
Prep:
Disassemble the joycon grip.
You will need to remove the buttons attached to the ribbon cable from their mount in the grip. I used a knife to carefully get under the sticker and pry it off.
Assembly (as seen in pictures):
Attach base using the screws from inside the grip
Attach the ribbon cable through the center. Then give it a small gentile twist to manage the cable better. Do not fold the ribbon cable as it can damage it.
Attach one button pad to each side of the risen platform. You may need to use double sided tape if they don't stick well.
Add a small strip of double sided tape, and then attach the rubber button covers. Make sure the placement is correct to click the button easily.
Put on the lid and attach it with the screws from the outside of the grip.
