If your guitar hums like a beehive till you touch the strings or your audio interface, congratulations: you’ve discovered the wonderful world of ungrounded switching power supplies. Since your laptop or multi-FX pedal likely uses a two-pin brick (exactly the way mine are), your entire signal chain is "floating" and looking for a way to dump noise. That "way" is usually your body.
I needed a quick way to get rid of that problem and therefore I had to 3D model a solution for that. I am not a 3D modeling expert, I am not sure if that will fit anyone else's outlet, but if there's even a single person that will find this useful -- that simply means I'm not writing all this for nothing. So let me know if that helps you (and save your breath if it doesn't ;-) , or remodel it for your needs)
Now with a sensible part of description on what that actually is:
This model provides a physical connection between your equipment's ground (the jack sleeve) and the actual ground in your Schuko (Type F) wall socket.
The "Darwin Award" Disclaimer (Read Carefully):
VOLTAGE WARNING: This project involves your 230V wall socket. While this plug is designed to only contact the grounding pin, you are still sticking a piece of plastic into a hole that can kill you
(that's what she said).ZERO RESPONSIBILITY: Everything you do, you do at your own risk. If you are the kind of person who manages to stick a grounding wire into the Phase hole, please sell your guitar and buy a harmonica. It’s safer for everyone.
KNOW YOUR WIRING: I take no responsibility if your house wiring was done by a drunk amateur and your "ground" is actually live, or if you don't understand the basic principles of residential electricity. If you don't know what you're doing, don't print this. Go hire an electrician or buy a $100 power conditioner.
How to use:
The Plug: Print the dummy plug. Thread a wire through the center and solder/secure the end to make a solid contact with the wall socket's grounding clips.
The Clamp: Print the hollow cylinder. Slide it over your 1/4" instrument jack (the one plugged into your interface/processor) to press the other end of the wire against the metal sleeve.
Enjoy the Silence: Your metalcore/deathcore riffs will finally be louder than the background buzz.
Print Settings:
Material: PETG or ABS (for better durability/heat resistance).
Infill: 40%+ (you want those "ears" to be stiff for a good grip).
Supports: None needed if printed flat.
