If you have a Bosch Aquastar tankless hot water heater that stops powering the igniter circuit, this part may save the day and a few hundred bucks in replacement parts. To test if this fix will work for you, simply hold a neodymium magnet next to the hydro-generator located at the bottom of the water heater. If the circuit springs to life, then this mod should do the job.
To explain how this works, the hydro-generator impeller breaks off fins and the gap stalls at the inflow. This mod creates a field around the impeller's magnet that frees it from locking in place.
The magnet used is a 0.875"x0.6"x0.1" neodymium and should snap in to the printed slot with a small amount of CA glue. Installation is as simple as assembling the part and snapping it on to the lower portion of the hydro-generator.
