Test your balancing skills while guiding a ball through a maze. Try to reach the end without letting the ball slipp through one of the holes. Your score is meassured by the number the hole has. reaching the finish are 100 points.

The plate "...." requires balls of maximum 8mm diameter. The heavier the ball the better it works, i use a steel ball.

The housing is able to handle balls up to 14mm.

The inspiration was a balancing maze i grew up with. The "BRIO 34000 Labyrinth" is a classic Swedish cildren game. You wondering why i decided to make an excisting game out of plastic. I wanted to be able to design different game plates myself and so can you now, because i added the template to do so. Just make sure that you no holes can be placed where the cross of the frame is as seen to the right here, it is 8mm in width. The frame is capable to take balls up to 15mm diameter.

I tried and struggled a lot with trying to make a geared tilt-mechanis so I chose the basic one with a rope system for now, but i am definitely retourning to that challenge one day.

Hardware required:

  • Steel ball

  • 2x pieces of rope, line, string, thread

If you want the same finish on the gameplate as in the pictures you need a mulitcolour printer and a transperant filament. Otherwise it also works with a white top layer, but it is not as clear.

If multicolour is no option you can print 2 Layers in white with manual filament change, iron the white surface and draw the line with a marker for plastics.

Assembly:

  1. Housing: remove the custom supports structures at the pivot points.

  2. put in the axles fix them with raw filament pieces in place

  3. same for the knobs

  4. now take two pieces of string

  5. connect one of the ends to prepared holes in the plate holder

  6. make sure the string is only so thick that it is flat with the plate holder.

  7. now with one side fixed, wrap the rope around the axle that is in a 90° angle to the flow of the rope wrap it around at least 5 times.

  8. fix the second end to the plate holder

  9. do the same with the other rope, the rope that runs on the lower axle needs more wraps so that it doesn't touch the axle above it.

  10. now put in the 2 connecting pieces for the groundplate and put the groundplat in.

  11. last step is to slide on the ballcatcher.

Enjoy.

I am looking forward to your gameplates. Also if you have ideas for a gameplate. post a drawing and i will design it.
