I had those two extractor that I used on small motor gear, but they were shipped in plastic bags, so I made a custom box

On AliExpress, I found these useful tools designed to extract motor gears from RC models and power tools. However, I didn’t like that they were delivered loose in a plastic bag, so I designed a proper storage solution based on the rugged box model from Whity.

The design includes integrated magnets to hold the two extractors, as well as the Allen key and the screws, keeping everything in place and giving a satisfying feedback.

To make this project as accessible as possible, I’ve included the Fusion 360 files. You can easily adjust some parameters such as magnet dimensions to match the magnets you already have, or holes size.

Required hardware

With the provided model files, you will need:

  • 6 × M4 × 20 mm screws

  • 6 × 10 × 3 mm magnets
(The critical dimension is the 10 mm diameter, not the thickness.)

Notes

To hold the tools properly, each holes requires a tight fit while still allowing easy removal. Since printer and filament types vary, I strongly recommend printing test_fit.obj first to determine the best fit for your setup.

⚠ Important: allow the test piece to cool completely to room temperature before checking the fit (this can make a noticeable difference) .

In the current setup:

  • Hole diameters are 3.2 mm and 4.2 mm in the OBJ file

  • These values are fully parametric in extractor.f3d if you need to fine-tune them

For the lid 3 options are available, one with written "mini extractor" for dual color, one written In French, and one without any. If you want to modify the text, you can easily do it in Rugged Box Parametric V2tttt.f3d
