I was sick of rolling over in bed and being surprised by a spikey massage ball hidden in the sheets, cause my wife loves them and uses them when lying in bed, but we don't have a good place to store them so they are always rolling all over the table, sheets, bed, drawer, floor.
Now, with this shelf, they are easily accessible while in bed. I made this cleat design with the idea that, if needed, we can mount a different kind of shelf here without having to drill move holes, if our future needs change.
