The American Rocketry Challenge uses standard 1 inch rails to guide rockets into the sky. This model allows for prototyping rockets on those rails, without needing to purchase them. These rails follow very close to actual 1010 rail systems, and are very strong, even when printed in PLA.

KEY DETAIL:
The rail is 100mm tall, so in order to change the length of the extrusion, edit the Z scaling without uniform scaling enabled. (200% scale = 200mm/20cm, 50% scale = 50mm/5cm)

Recommended Print Settings:

For Ender 3:

Rail System

  • Print in PLA/PETG

  • Max Recommended print temp for material (I used PLA, so 220ºc)

  • Max Recommended print speed (Again I used PLA, so 90mm/s)

  • Max Recommended print bed temp (30ºc)

  • Layer height should be as big as possible, as the rail system is just a sketch extruded up (I used 0.4)

Buttons

  • Print in PLA

  • 220ºc print temp

  • 90mm/s print speed

  • 30ºc print bed temp

  • layer height 0.2

Otherwise just fiddle with the settings until you can get it perfect. The main goal of this is to make the extrusion of the rail as efficient as possible, and the buttons to be structurally sound (Because, you know, rocket)
