I printed the bottom ring at 100% infill, and the whole model with 3 perimeters.
I find that even with that and the other bolstering mods, I can still rotate the microscope with enough force, but it's much better than it was. I used Elegoo Rapid PLA+, maybe a different PLA would flex less. It holds well enough, and I don't notice it while using the microscope
I used an M4 threaded insert, but the original author used an M5 screw, and if you have a spare set screw that's the same as the one that the stand has, that one worked for me as well
