Warning: If you intend to use this with the spools and IFS on the left side of the printer, I highly recommend printing and attaching this (or any other) strain relief https://www.printables.com/model/1447684. When I first started using the printer with the IFS on the left, at some point the print head cable was caught behind the print head. I didn't see it happen, but I could see the kink in the cable. This has seemingly prevented that from happening any further.
In the corner where I wanted to put my 3d printer, having a device with a door that opens to the left, and the IMS on the left side would be vastly easier. I designed this enclosure to be compatible with the stock enclosure (for the most part). I started designing this before I received my enclosure panels, as they were stuck on backorder for months. As such I designed the spool holders to be compatible with the stock M3 Screws used to hold them to the chassis. This is done by using M3 nuts pressed into the plastic, before putting the panels on, similar to how the hinge attachments are done on the stock enclosure. You will want at least 8 extra M3 nuts for the spool holders on one side, or 20 if you want to set this up for swapping sides with minimal disassembly (16 for the spool holders and 4 for the opposing hinges.)
In addition to the flashforge AD5X enclosure kit, to use this you will need at least 8 extra M3 nuts
Be sure to press the nuts into the plastic before installing the panels onto the printer.
This replaces A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2, D1, and D2 of the stock enclosure
(the orange parts of the enclosure in the attached images). The parts are labeled internally like the parts they replace.
If all you want is the ability to swap the IMS side, and didn't buy the AD5X enclosure kit, you will need some M4-.70x6 screws (I found some at lowes). These are used to mount the panels to the printer. You may also want some M3x20 screws to use the spacer that is added to the IMS when an enclosure is used. Before I eventually received the enclosure kit, I used my printer fine without it, but it does cause the IMS to be a bit misaligned from the filament spools, however never caused me any issues.
I modified the original design a bit to allow for fewer supports, the only supports that should be needed are on the bottoms of the cuts for clearance for the door handle. I have shared a 3mf, but this is my first time doing so, so apologies if that does not work correctly.
I printed mine in PETG for the better heat resistance, though I am unsure if PETG is needed of if PLA would work fine.
Blender files are attached, you would think I would bother to learn some actual CAD program, but somehow I struggle on with blender.
