This is an all-in-one NAS case to be used with SeeedStudio Odyssey (aka re_computer) single board computer. It utilizes the original alumininum case that came with the computer. It fits power supply, odyssey sbc, two 92mm fans and up to three 3.5 HDDs. This case is quite tall - almost 30cm (31 with extended top), but it seems stable. The whole structure is held together by four M3 threaded rods, so the printed parts (except the HDD brackets) do not bear any significant weight.

The case was quite hard to assemble with the original top part - there is not much room for HDD cables. I created an extended version that is 10mm taller and would recommend using it instead.

Also I would recommend printing with 100% infill for more noise dampening. It should not consume much more material as this thing is almost all walls ant not much infill.

NOTE that the ODDYSEY can only power two 3.5 HDDs, the third one will have to be powered directly from the PSU and will need a small DC-DC converter to make a 5v rail. DO NOT connect the third hard drive to the odyssey - it might spin up, but it does not have enough power to continually use the hdd and will result in in read/write errors and random reboots (trust me - I tried).

The case could theoretically fit 4 hard drives with redesigned bracket and almost no room for airflow.

Components:

  • Seeed Studio ODYSSEY SBC with M.2 to SATA Converter to add more sata ports
  • MeanWell LRS-75-12 power supply
  • 1-3 hard drives
  • 2x 92mm fans (I used Arctic F9 Silent fans and wired them directly to the PSU. In retrospect, it would be much better to wire them to the third SATA power connector on the Odyssey.)
  • 4x M3 rods cut to 282mm (or 292mm for extended top) and few M3 nuts
  • SATA data cables - as short as you can find, I would recommend angled on one end, but it should not matter (or at least it should not matter with the extended top case)
  • SATA power cables (the connectors on odyssey are PH 2.0mm): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005893462017.html
  • HDD Shock Absorption Screws: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007980744204.html
  • cable with 5.5*2.1 barrel plug: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004104968956.html

Post-Printing

Attach the PSU to the base of the original case. I used double sided tape. Or you can utilize the M2.5 mounting holes in the base. Attach the cables and fans to the PSU before assembling the case. Screw the threaded rods to the 4 M3 holes on the edge of the base. Stack components onto the threaded rods and add m3 nuts where needed:

  1. add first fan with 4 printed fan holders
  2. printed case bottom !! it cannot be removed later without disassembling everything, so make sure the cabling is all attached correctly !!
  3. odyssey in the original case
  4. 2 printed hdd brackets
  5. fiddle with the brackets until they are spaced right to attach the hard drives
  6. wire the hard drives and attach them to the brackets
  7. add second fan
  8. move everything up and down until it fits in the case top
  9. printed case top
  10. lid
