What is this?
A modular rigid body system for optical motion capture, designed by a researcher who actually uses these in real experiments. Instead of buying overpriced proprietary rigid bodies, print your own with unique marker geometries that your mocap software can reliably distinguish.
What's in the kit?
Marker Puck (v5) — Central body which contains sockets at multiple angles for insertion of various shafts lengths. Holds a standard retroreflective marker (e.g., 14mm OptiTrack sphere).
Shaft_r_25 — 25 mm shaft
Shaft_r_50 — 50 mm shaft
Shaft_r_75 — 75 mm shaft
Shaft_r_100 — 100 mm shaft
Shaft_r_100_cluster — 100 mm shaft with pre-built supports modelled.
Combine different shaft lengths to create asymmetric rigid body geometries that are easy for your tracking software to identify as unique objects.

Print Settings
Material: PETG
Layer height: 0.15 mm QUALITY
Infill: 15% Gyroid for Puck, 100% for shafts
Supports: Everywhere for puck, not required for shafts
Additional parts
M4 x 10 mm grub-screws
Loctite glue (e.g. 421)
Instructions
Print out all parts. Remove sharp edges on base of shafts to allow for easy insertion into puck.
Glue M4 grubscrews into female socket end of shaft. Once dry, thread spherical markers as required.
Compatibility
Designed for use with standard retroreflective motion capture markers. Tested with OptiTrack systems but compatible with any optical mocap system (Vicon, Qualisys, etc.) using standard spherical markers.
