💡Why?
I have found that I have an affinity to using macros for efficiency and productivity. My solution for my unsatiable need was a macro pad. I have had macro pads in the past such as a repurposed USB numpad, DIY Adafruit and keyboard switches kit, and even an open source macro pad app on an old Amazon fire tablet. Nothing was like an Elgato Stream Deck, but I did not want to spend that kind of money on one. I was able to find a knock-off on Amazon from a brand called VSD Inside sold through a seller of a different name. The link is included below. I enjoy the Stream Dock N1 as its called, but it seemed to be targeted as a numpad to go next to your keyboard. I wanted to use it in a way similar to the Elgato Stream Deck. This included having it under my monitors behind my keyboard and in a horizontal and angled up configuration. Seeing no other models online, I set off to make my own with my limited experience.
🎯 Specifics:
This model was created in OnShape. The link to the model is included below. The .stl and the .step files are here for download. The model was shaped in a way that the stream dock is held at roughly a 60° angle from the surface it sits on. I found that this was best for me and my height in my desk chair. Your mileage may vary, but this shouldn't be all too bad. I did not model with any specific tolerances in mind due to my limited CAD/modeling experience. It is not even friction fit. Gravity holds the stream dock in the base and the USB-C plug enters through a slot in the side and acts as a locking mechanism. Due to the slope of the stream dock to mimic the slope of a keyboard, I made this model to have the plug exit the right side of the base. I incorporated cavities for the rubber feet on the stream dock to get it as uniform looking as possible.
The model has a rectangular prismatic cavity that allows the inclusion of weights mid-print. I wanted this feature so that it would feel heavier as well as be heavier so that the rubber feet I put on myself would have more grip on my desk so that the stream dock doesn't go flying off my desk when I push one of the buttons. The rubber feet I ordered off of Amazon were very supple rubber (No, I will not apologize for using that word) and the link for the feet I used is included below as well as the wheel weights I ordered and used. This feature proved effective and the included gif shows how little the stream dock moves when I push a button.
The print was paused at layer 245 using the included settings. Once paused, I added some hot glue to bottom of the cavity and inserted five rows of 4x 1 oz. wheel weights. The weights I used (included below) had adhesive backing. I layered four of the five rows on top of each other and a fifth on the side. Pictures of the weight orientation are also included. I then added a little hot glue on the left and rights sides of my monolith of weights and resumed the print.

🔄 Orientation
Recommended Orientation: Print with the front face of the base 90° perpendicular to the build plate. This will allow supports to be limited to the top overhang of the base only. Photos of the recommended print orientation are included above. I also painted on a small tree support for the back to hold the weight of the added wheel weights to minimize layer artifacts due to the added weight.
