🌀 Marble Run of Infinity

A compact kinetic marble run with an endless looping track that continuously converts gravity into motion.

This design comes in two sizes:

  • Small (S): 68 × 70 × 17 mm

  • Large (L): 133 × 135 × 33 mm

Marbles will keep circulating through the loop for a long time, gradually slowing depending on print quality, marble type, and friction — which makes each run slightly unique and interesting to watch.

A sample video is available below.

🧩 Features

  • No supports required

  • Beginner-friendly print

  • Fast print time (2–3 hours depending on settings)

  • Optimized for smooth marble flow (V2 improved)

  • Available in 2 sizes

⚙ Print Settings

Layer Height: 0.2 mm (0.16 mm for detail)
Walls: 3
Top Layers: 5–6
Bottom Layers: 4–5
Infill: 15–20% (Grid or Gyroid)
Print Speed: ~50 mm/s
Supports: None (brim recommended)
Orientation: Bottom on build plate

Light sanding is recommended for best performance.

🔧  Quick troubleshooting

  • Marble stuck → light sanding helps

  • Doesn’t complete loop → check print quality and layer smoothness

  • Too slow → use a standard 16mm steel marble

  • Results vary → depends on printer and filament

🔄 Updates

  • 5/30/2026 – Issue found: marble could not climb hill reliably

  • 5/31/2026 – V2 released with smoother slopes and improved flow

  • 6/21/2026 – V2 tested and confirmed working

🧠 Concept

This model demonstrates energy transfer:

  • Gravity converts height → speed

  • Momentum carries marble through the loop

  • Small losses from friction gradually reduce motion

Each print behaves slightly differently depending on surface finish and tolerances.
