Short story: I bought a dock, the fan's noise annoyed my waifu so I spent a lot of time designing a whole upgraded bottom piece for the dock to enable upgrading to a much bigger and quieter fan.
Should be easy to print and with the upgraded airflow you don't need to worry about what material to use for printing, PLA is fine.
Dock is easy to take apart, remove feet on the bottom and you'll expose 4 screws. Take those out and the harddrive bay can now be removed, it might require a plastic spudger to get started from the edges but it's not glued and there's no clips or anything. Very straightforward.
On the bottom of the main board you'll find the fan connected with a 2-pin 5V DC power connector that you'll need to splice you new fan connection to. ONLY USE A 5V NON-PWM FAN!!
Designed for 92mm wide, 25mm thick fan, but slim fans will work as well.
