This project was inspired by the need to use two controllers with the same peripherals — LED strips in my case. One controller runs an MP3 player, five servos and 4 Led strips, and the other provides full WLED functionality. This switch allows both controllers to share the same 4 LED strips and wiring without unplugging or rewiring anything.

The entire mechanism is built using no metal springs, no screws, no purchased switch hardware. Just the 3d printed 3 parts, 3 standard header pins sets

3 2.54 mm header pins as electrical contacts.

  • The common header pins set sits inside the red slider horizontally. This set has a longer pin length and acts like a bridge and needs to be glued after some calibration

  • The two throws header pin sets sit in the upper housing, facing downward.  The metal pins are cut 0.5 mm above the touching surface of the slider to reduce friction .

The slider performs a mechanical wiping action with two preset snapping position

The upper housing snaps in the slider and maintains horizontal move freedom and also sits into the base through its 3 square protrusion at the ends

I tested the prototype, and it switches cleanly across all five poles. - video included

Included, STL file, STEP file,  photos of the seperate parts and assembled unit and testing video and assembly elaboration video

This switch is part of an in progress project: Three Pigeons and Their Mum
