Currently I am organizing my whole desk around my 3D printer and creating a central location for most my tools wich otherwise is lying around everywhere.
I was a bit shocked that there is not one holder for folding rulers wich is compatible with the openGrid system by @DavidD. (thank you once more for creating such nice looking and working framework!)
So this is the reason why I created my own one, it is designed to use two Multiconnect snaps (look at "What you also will need"). I choose two of them because the first try was using only one at the top, but this made the holder wobble around while taking out the ruler.
To safe some filament (and also for the esthetics 😉) I added some hexagon cutouts to the front and both sides. This is making the print a bit more difficult to print but on my default "speed profile" (=170mm/s for walls) I was able to print it first try without supports. The thick layer you can see in the pictures should be eliminated (or at least reduced) if you reduce the speed during printing.
Print settings
I think there isn't a "perfect recommendation" for printing this holder, but I used this settings:
PLA
0.2 layer height
10% infill
3 bottom / 5 top layers
2 wall loops
No supports needed
What you also will need
This holder is mainly designed for openGrid, I attached the STEP files so feel free to design it for another system or change the holes to make it a standalone wall mount.
But if you want it to use it with openGrid you will have to print yourself two sets consisting of the Multiconnect and Multiconnect snaps. You will find them in the openGrid project.
I am using the Multiconnect Lock Snap and the Foldable Multiconnect.
