it can become as large as 10cm or 4 inches in diameter. But it's still designed to be beautiful while it's not in use.

This design is made mainly for drawing circles while also being a beautiful design. If you like highly mechanical designs with a lot of gears visible and you can see them interacting with each other, you will most likely enjoy this design for its looks.

The largest diameter this tool is capable of making, is 10cm or 3.937 inches.

If you like this drawing tool, maybe you would be interested in my other drawing tools.  https://www.printables.com/@Project_404_3210369/collections/3598316

I'm interested in making other designs of this type. Some are easier to assemble, some are highly precise in estimating diameter, and some are still beautiful but in different ways. If you're interested in me making any other designs similar to these or if you found a problem with this design, please send me a message.

This design was inspired by the adjustable circle from IRON NEST: Heavy Turret Simulator.

I hope all of you are gonna enjoy it.

  • Guide for Building It

  1. Make sure you have printed all the parts you need. That includes:

  • 1 main spur gear

  • 1 gauge handle

  • 1 under shell

  • 1 upper shell (Version A, B, or C)

  • 15 wing pieces

  • 15 layer shift spur gears

  1. Make the lower half

  • You will need the under shell. You'll need it to place most of the gears.

  • Then place all of the wing pieces and make sure that they are moved all the way into the side of the under shell, like demonstrated on the image.

  • (Make sure that they are placed on the white knob. Out of the two different knobs, the knob with the smaller base is meant for the layer shift spur gear.)

  • When all of the wing pieces are place

d, you can begin to place all of the layer shift spur gears. Make sure that they are aligned correctly with the wing pieces and positioned into the middle, like demonstrated on the image.

  1. When the lower half is fully assembled, you can begin to make the upper half (I guess you could also make this half first; it doesn't really matter).

  • The upper shell has four small holes on the inner rim, which the gauge handle can interact with using its own matching bumps on its side.

  • When you have put the upper shell and gauge handle together, you can put the main spur gear onto the gauge handle. It should have been put together like on the image. (There's a small extra indent on the main spur gear. Make sure that points out towards the

    handle on the gauge handle.

    Like on the image.)

  1. Now to put the two halves together

  • Warning: This can be difficult because you have to line up a lot of gears.

  • Make sure that all of the wing pieces are moved 100% up to the side of the under shell.

  • The upper and lower shells have two bumps on each part for integrating with each other. Make sure that they are lined up with each other when you put the upper shell on top of the lower shell.

  • Make sure the main spur gear is set to point toward its 0 position. It’s easiest to see where that is on upper shell A and B. To find the 0 position on these two designs, look at the bump on the upper shell and point it toward the direct line. The points outward. It’s also demonstrated in the image. (Image of 0 precision.)

  • Now to put it together: It can be difficult, but if you have lined up all of the different pieces correctly, it should be possible to just put the upper half down on the lower half. You may have to adjust the main spur gear. It can take a few minutes to line up all of the different parts. It’s also easiest to use a top half you can see through, so you can see what parts aren’t lining up correctly.
