Parametric Embroidery/Mending Hoop

A fully parametric embroidery hoop built in Fusion 360, with ready-to-print STLs included in three common sizes.

Need a different size? Leave a comment and I'll add it!

About the fit
  • A 0.5 mm clearance between the two rings works well for most fabrics and applications, and is what the included STL files use. If you're working with something unusually thick or thin, the F3D file lets you dial in your own clearance.

Ready-made sizes included
  • For convenience, this upload includes pre-generated STL files in three common sizes, all with a 0.5 mm clearance between the two rings:

  • 50 x 70 mm

  • 100 x 100 mm

  • 150 x 100 mm

How it works
  • The hoop consists of two rings with a size difference between them, giving a snug press-fit that holds fabric in place, ideal for embroidery or mending clothes.

Why parametric instead of just the ready-made STLs?
  • The included STLs cover the three most common sizes, but embroidery hoops and fabric come in endless combinations. If your project needs a size that's not listed or a different clearance for a thicker or thinner fabric, the F3D file lets you punch in your own numbers and get a press-fit hoop that's guaranteed to update cleanly, no matter what values you enter.

Files included
  • STL - ready-to-print files in the sizes listed above

  • STEP - universal CAD format, opens in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, FreeCAD, and most other CAD software

  • F3D -native Fusion 360 archive, includes the full parametric timeline and all parameters described below

How to edit the parameters
  1. Open the F3D file in Fusion 360

  2. Go to Modify → Change Parameters

  3. Look at the Favorites section at the top — these are the only values you need to touch

  4. Change a value, hit Enter, and the whole model updates automatically

You do not need to touch anything outside the Favorites list. Everything else updates automatically behind the scenes.

Adjustable parameters (Favorites)

Parameter

What it controls

Height

Outer height of the hoop

Width

Outer width of the hoop

Fabric_Thickness

Gap between the two rings, sized for your fabric's thickness

Everything else in the parameter list (prefixed DoNotEdit_) is internal, these are calculated automatically from the values above and don't need to be touched.
