BACKSTORY: I created replacement back arms for the Sub250 Oasisfly35. The idea came from an FPV group, after I was looking for suggestions for a frame replacement. One person suggested to just print the legs, as the body is still strong and durable. The arms, on the other hand (pun not intended), have a weak point near the motor mount holes.
Before you print, you must buy:
Cotter Pins 5/32" x 3" (you can get them at Home Depot or Lowe's, they cost around $2-$3.)
super glue (any super glue will be fine. I use the Dollar Tree super glue. It's both cheap and amazing.)
M2 x 8mm (for TPU mounted feet) or M2 x 6mm (comes stock with the drone)
Any tool, small pliers (what I used), or screw driver that can fit in the dip part of the print (Picture 7; the bottom right part of the print where it attaches to the drone frame.)
I have printed the arms with PLA+ and have not had any problems with it. You can try PETG, ABS, or CF if you want to. So far, PLA+ has been reliable for me.
Print the legs with a WALL COUNT of 6, TOP AND BOTTOM LAYER of 12, and NO INFILL. Print it sideways/ slanted as shown in the picture. You could do both or one at a time. The print DOES NOT need supports, but if you feel unsure about your printer, you can print it using a BRIM only.
After the print is done, force open the pin at a 90 degree angle and insert one end into the hole of the print (pin hole shown in picture 6 and 7). DO NOT ADD GLUE. This phase is to test the hole and to add a cutting mark to the pin, and test it on the drone for imperfections. After you tested the print and added a cutting mark to the pin, cut the pin and for the next step, make sure you are fast and careful! Add glue to the pin and insert it inside the hole fast, before the glue attaches to the print. Using the tool, screw driver, or small pliers (I used small pliers) push the pin as deep as it will let you. This pin will create a stronger much more durable print. Afterwards, just install it to the drone and watch it fly. You shouldn't have any problems with the arm distance, nor the way it flies.
***I will eventually work on both front arms and have them uploaded here.***
Thank you and GOOD LUCK!
