This chain wear gauge is used to check whether a bike chain is worn out and needs to be replaced before it damages the rest of the drive train. If the 0.5% side goes the chain needs to be replaced as soon as possible. If the 0.75% side goes in the drive train probably already has some damage.
The following shows what happens with good chain compared to a known bad one.
The chain on this bike is example where it needs to be replaced.
Printing
This chain wear gauge has been successfully printed using both PLA and PETG. While the design is accurate the shrinkage inherent in PLA and PETG is enough to produce a faulty tool. To compensate for this the scale in the X direction should be changed to 100.2 in the slicer settings as show below (for Orca Slicer).
