This is ModulDesk, a simple and customizable stackable shelving system I designed to organize my workspace. It works perfectly for creating multi-tier storage, lifting desk accessories, or keeping electronics like routers and mini PCs cool and out of the way. You can use it as a single-tier stand or stack it to add more vertical storage.
I wanted to keep the design as functional and easy to print as possible:
The shelves feature a perforated grid pattern. This significantly cuts down on filament usage and print time while providing good airflow.
Everything is held together by friction-fit joints at the corners. There is no need for screws, nuts, or glue.
All parts are designed to be printed entirely without supports.
The system is completely modular. You can add more tiers just by printing additional shelves and leg extenders.
Assembly is straightforward. Print the shelves flat on your build plate and the pillars vertically. The legs just slide into the square holes in the corners of the shelves. Insert the middle pillars to set your height, top it off with the next shelf, and stack them as high as you need.
Here are the print settings I suggest using:
PLA is great for overall rigidity, but PETG might be better if you plan to put heavier objects on the rack.
0.2mm layer height offers a good balance, but 0.28mm works fine if you want to save time.
Use 15-20% infill (Gyroid or Cubic).
Since the perforated design already saves plastic, I highly recommend using 3 to 4 perimeters (walls) to make sure the pillars and the joints are strong and won't wobble.
No supports are needed.
A brim is recommended for the tall pillar pieces just to be safe with bed adhesion.
If you end up printing this, please post a Make, I'm really curious to see how you set it up.
