Recommended Print Settings
Material: PETG or Polypropylene (PP) recommended (Food-safe, higher temperature tolerance for hot water).
Layer Height: 0.20 mm (Standard)
Infill: 20% to 25% (Gyroid or Grid for structural strength)
Wall Loops / Perimeter: 3 to 4 walls (Crucial for watertight integrity and snap mechanism strength)
Top/Bottom Solid Layers: 4 Top, 4 Bottom
Supports: None (0% Support needed)
Orientation: Print flat on its back resting on the main arc face.
Print & Usage Tips
Material Selection: Avoid standard PLA if you plan to strain boiling water (100°C / 212°F), as it can soften and deform under high heat. PETG is more heat-resistant than PLA, but for direct contact with boiling water or hot cooking applications, use a filament specifically rated for the intended temperature and food-contact use.
Watertight Seals: To improve watertightness, ensure proper first-layer calibration and sufficient wall thickness.
Increasing the extrusion flow rate or extrusion width slightly (around 2–3%) may help reduce micro-gaps, but excessive flow can cause dimensional inaccuracies.
A slightly higher nozzle temperature may also improve layer adhesion, depending on the filament.
Food Safety Notice: Use a filament specifically certified by the manufacturer for food-contact applications. A stainless-steel nozzle can be preferable for food-contact prints, particularly if the nozzle has previously been used with unknown or abrasive materials. Because FDM prints have microscopic layer lines that can trap food particles and bacteria, consider using a suitable food-contact coating if the part will be reused frequently. Always follow the filament manufacturer's food-contact recommendations.
