The RC speed AirBoat

Well first off --> Speed boat and n airboat are rarelly seen together, either it is a speed boat or an airboat however i decided to make it an rc speed Airboat since well i couldnt rerally figure out a way to make it a normal rc speed boat and tbh i didnt have the time due to my exams.

What is an Air boat?

An airboat is basically a type of boat that, unlike conventional boats, doesnt have a submerger prop instead it has a motor that is on top of the water surface along with the prop too. Now the prop pushes the **AIR** backwards not water (since well its not in water) hence pushing the boat forward.

The problem

Since airboats have to move forward by pushing air behind which apparently requires more power than pushing water to reach the same speeds, hence there are not many SPEED Air BOAT's but well my model uses a very well interesting method to get the speed required.

The Solution

So instead of a small not powerful enough motor that most airboats use well mine is designed for a SunnySky X2216 1400KV brushless motor (which for those of u who dont know is a motor used in rc planes and heavy drones ) so yeah this provides more than enough power for the boat to gain well; i can only say phenomenal speed for an rc air boat (acc to me)

Important note --->

Even though i have designed this boat to use a SunnySky X2216 1400KV motor however i have not actually made the mounting holes onto the bracket for the motor.... there is a really good reason for that btw.

the reason is that some people may or may not have/find the exact motor available so they are free to use any brushless motor which has a diameter of under 30mm so hence, to allow other people to switch out motor's use different motors, different brackets i have not added mounting holes and if u are making it u will have to rill them yourself depending on the motor u plan on using.

Assembly instructions

(U will need CA or resin glue btw)

Step 1-  firstly u wil need to print the hull of the boat with either ASA or PETG (u could use PLA but it will have higher chances of water leaking and also wear and tear) also apply 30% infill with a rectilinear or grid pattern, paired with 5 to 6 outer walls.

Step 2- Next after printing the hull pls print the other parts of the boat too, mainly the rudder along with the rod attatched to the rudder.

Note - I know printin gthis will require multiple supports mostly for the plate that the servo motor for the rudder sits on inside the boat and also the hull of the boat however trust me this is nesecarry since printing it individually and joining them together would weaken the structure.

Step 3- Now u will need to glue on the motor mount. for this it is very important to use CA or resin glue for structural strength since this is the part of the boat that will be experiencing the most force on it and we need this to be strong enough.

Step 4- Now we will need to reinforce the motor mount. For this purpose u can use a a thin wooden plank on the back of the boat going from the back of the hull to the motor mount and then glue it, again using ca or resin glue. Note -> if u have extra carbon fiber sheet lying around then the best thing to do would be to secure the joint btw the hull and the motor mount using that

Step 5- After doing that we now will need to attatch the rudder. Now this part might be a little tricky --->

U will first need to make a small hole in the rudder where u will be able to attatch the pushrod from the servo motor that controls it.

Now basically take the rudder (along with the rod that should be printed along with the rudder) Then slide the rod into the back cylindrical thing behind the hull.

Now u will need to (very carefully) use a small bead of glue and glue on the top cap on top of the rod of the rudder that will be sticking out from the top.

Then with that small bead of glue u need to carefully glue on the top cap that u need to print with the rudder now MAKE ABSOLUTELLY SURE THAT U DO NOT GLUE THE TOP CAP DOWN ONTO THE CYLINDRICAL OUTER COVERING. THE CAP ONLY SOULD BE GLUED ONTO THE RUDDER'S ROD.

Step6 - Now well attatch the servo motor that u need to attatch inside the boat (look at assembly.stl for servo positioning but ig u can eyeball it since its not that tough tbh)

<--- servo positioning

Step 7 - Now just bend the pushrod like in the following image and attatch it to the rudder using the hole u made in it.

<---- pushrod (highlighted)

Step8- Now attatch the motor to the motor mount, attatch the 8 × 4" prop 3 blade prop and yea the motor and the servo is done....

Step9- Finally just attach the wires of the motor to an ESC (electronic speed contorller which btw please put it inside the boat (the ESC Should not be in water prone area's). Then connect the ESC to a reciever from your transister to channel 3 (depends upon the reciever). And then finally just connect your rudder servo motor to the reciever too and you are done with the electronics!!!!

Step 10 (final step!!!) - Ok now finally just glue on the front cover onto the body of the boat and go ahead and test the motors thrust direction (if it is wrong just reverse the wiring with the esc) then test the rudder and yea just go ahead and TAKE IT OUT TO A POND, LAKE , POOL ETC AND HAVE FUN!!!!!

AND THAT's it THE BOAT IS COMPLETE HAVE FUN!!!!
