Station G3 Case
A printable desktop enclosure for the BQ Voyage Station G3 stack (motherboard, MCU board and LoRa daughterboard) with every port broken out, a vented guard over the LoRa heatsink, and a hatch to reach the PA jumpers without pulling the case apart.
This case is redesigned after a custom Station G2 enclosure created by Alley Cat. I simply redesigned it for the Station G3.
Note: read the hardware section at the bottom to make sure you have the right standoffs. The length of standoff is somewhat unique in order to match the exact length from Neil. Also note that the stud length is unique to keep the mounting bosses as short as possible. Nothing will fit correctly with the enclosed case if you use different size standoffs.
Which RF board do you have?
In August 2026 BQ Voyage moved to a new heatsink supplier. On the new LoRa daughterboard (BQ35LORA900V1M, revision 18 Aug 2026) the heatsink has mounting holes at its corners and sits about 5.5 mm closer to the SMA connector. The faceplate and hatch have to match your board. The case, plates and spacers are the same for both.
Your board | Heatsink edge to the SMA-end edge of the LoRa board | |
|---|---|---|
New: shipping since August 2026 | about 23.6 mm | the files without a suffix |
Original: shipped before August 2026 | about 29.1 mm | the files ending in -2hole |
If you're not sure, measure from the end of the LoRa board nearest the SMA connector to the near edge of the heatsink.
What to Print
File | Notes | |
|---|---|---|
1 × shell |
| required, either board |
1 × faceplate |
| pick one; add |
1 × jumper hatch |
| pick one; must match your faceplate's board version |
antenna spacer |
| optional, TPU |
Faceplates
Plain (02a) - flat top, nothing over the LoRa heatsink. Smallest, quietest looking, and
the one to use if the case lives somewhere it might get knocked about and you would rather
not have walls to snap off.
Guard, open (02b) - a wall standing 6.4 mm proud of the plate round the heatsink, nine vent slots per side, and
an open top. Keeps fingers and cables off the heatsink while letting it breathe straight up.
Guard, capped (02c) - the same wall with a honeycomb cap over it, 63 % open. Use this one
if anything is ever going to sit on top of the case.
Hatches
The honeycomb one doubles as an extra vent over the cavity; the solid one closes it up. Both fit all three faceplates of the same board version, but the hatches are not interchangeable between versions: the new-board hatch is 5.5 mm longer so its north edge and honeycomb still line up with the heatsink guard.
Antenna Spacers
Fill the gap between the case wall and the antenna's base, so the antenna threads down onto the spacer and has positive engagement with it. They are TPU rings tapering from Ø10 mm at the case wall to Ø9 mm at the top, with a Ø6.5 mm bore that slides over the SMA thread (Ø6.1 mm on the G3). Four heights - 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5 mm; nothing else differs. Pick the one that fits your antenna.
Sensor (optional)
The jumper hatch is spaced to mount an Adafruit BME280 or Adafruit BME680. It connects to the Qwiic I²C Grove port with a SparkFun Qwiic Cable – Grove Adapter (100 mm).
SG3-04-Backplate and SG3-05-MountingPlate are alternatives to the shell (a bare plate the size of the board, and the same plate with mounting ears) for anyone who wants the stack bolted to a panel rather than boxed.
Hardware
The entire build depends on the right standoffs. The case holds the board stack by them, and the faceplate screws into their tops.
Qty | Item | Goes where |
|---|---|---|
3 | M2.5 × 12 mm + 4 mm male–female standoff - Amazon | the three north positions, up to the LoRa board |
4 | M2.5 × 7 mm + 4 mm male–female standoff - Amazon | the four positions under the MCU board |
6 | M2.5 × 6 mm screw - Amazon | faceplate → top of a standoff |
2 | M2.5 × 3 mm screw - same kit | jumper hatch → faceplate frame |
Tool: a micro hex socket to drive the standoffs down. I used this 7-piece H4-shank metric set.
Changelog
v1.1 – Added faceplates and hatches for the new RF daughterboard (Aug 2026 heatsink revision). The heatsink opening, guard and cap move 5.5 mm toward the SMA, taken from BQ Voyage's drawing of the board. The original-board files are still here with a -2hole suffix. Thanks to jram0421 for finding it and to Neil at BQ Voyage for the drawing.
v1.0 – First release.
