M137 Self Propelled Howitzer
"The solution is always 203mm"
This is a made from scratch model of a fictional howitzer with a rotating turret, raising cannon, and moveable autocannon mount. It was designed after a drawing I did a while back.
Print Guide
When I test printed and assembled this model, I used .16mm layer height so I'd suggest using that.
There is one part, the 20mm autocannon, that I would suggest using a .2mm nozzle for and very small layer height, but there is a version with a thicker barrel that should work with .4mm's.
All of the parts should be in the best orientation for printing already.
Make sure to use pretty sizable brims when printing the larger parts
Sadly, the suspension does require AMS (for now), I am working on a solution
Assembly should be pretty straight forward, but if you need any help, feel free to ask
Print the counterweight at something around 95% infill. This helps keep the gun stable
Also, I printed the gun with two walls and 10% infill
The cannon assembly is held in place by a piece of filament that is pounded into the slot on the sides of the turret
The idea behind this howitzer was that to extend the range of SPH fleets to keep them away from drones, a competition was announced for a new, longer range howitzer. This one won out because instead of using rocket assisted projectiles or fancy things like that, this simply used a larger cannon which could carry standard 155 rounds in a sabot which was a much cheaper per-shot option. It also had the ability to fire 203mm rounds which were devastating to hardened structures
You're free to use this for whatever, just make sure to link it back to here :)
