This is a portable briefcase-style case for the Framework Laptop 12's mainboard. It has an 8x4 openGrid inside for mounting custom modifications, or anything else you may wish to put on it, making it modular and highly customisable. The USB-C ports remain accessible from the sides of the case, and I have included two openGrid tiles for the power button and the fan vents. The mainboard and openGrid are secured using clips, which are designed for some tolerance and therefore may be a bit loose but they should not affect the functionality.
Printing
You'll need to print two each of the clips and hinges. Most parts do not require support but for the base you may need it if your printer can't bridge well. No extra hardware is required to assemble it except a bit of glue for your hinges. I'd recommend PETG or probably ASA for the base, as it can get hot from the board, but everything else should be printable in PLA or other soft filaments. The overall dimensions of the briefcase are approximately 160mm by 75mm by 235mm so as long as your printer's build volume is larger than that, you should have no problem printing it.
This project is fully open-source and you are encouraged to make your own tile modifications for the inside. You can customise it in whatever way you want, but you will definitely need to incorporate the power button tile.
Project note: No AI was used in the design or creation of this project. Aside from the incorporated OpenGrid system, the design is entirely my own work.
