These inserts for ammo boxes are designed to have the loaded round resting on the shoulder, not the tip of the bullet. These will fit the Berry's and Cabela's style ammo boxes. The 308 model will fit up to the fired neck of the 308, so the 338 Federal will NOT fit in these inserts. They may work for long-action/standard-action cartridges but I haven't tried them yet.
My 308 rounds loaded to 2.870" have clearance, but make sure to check yours before inserting. They fit easily about half-way down, then they are SNUG. They will be a bear to get back out, but it stiffens the box nicely. I press them in with a spent case.
Recommended printing at 0.2mm layer height. They are tough but thin.
