Have you ever needed to know the pitch or roll of your desk or work surface?, No?, Well me neither but now you can with only some 3d printed parts and a wooden dowel. This is a very simple project of two attitude indicators one for roll and one for pitch that work without any motors or gyroscopes and will turn your desk IFR ready.

Parts

For pitch indicator
  1. PAI-sphere-orange-pitch 1x (print with at least 30% infill)

  2. PAI-sphere-blue-pitch 1x (print with max 15% infill)

  3. PAI-box-pitch 1x

  4. PAI-lid-pitch 1x

  5. PAI-arrow-pitch 1x

  6. 7mm wooden dowel 1x

For roll indicator

EITHER

  1. PAI-section-orange-roll 1x

  2. PAI-section-blue-roll 1x

OR

  1. PAI-section-whole-roll 1x

  1. PAI-box-roll 1x

  2. PAI-arrow-roll 1x

  3. PAI-lid-roll 1x

  4. PAI-wheight-roll 1x (print with at least 20% infill)

  5. 7mm wooden dowel

Instructions

For pitch indicator
  1. Assemble the sphere (use glue if it doesn't press fit) and test tolerance, it should rotate freely if not sand it

  2.  Put the sphere inside the box and thread the dowel trough the box and the sphere, it should be press fit into the box if it moves apply glue

  3. Glue the lid and the arrow in its place

For roll indicator
  1. Assemble the two halves of the indicator section (if using separate parts)

  2. Glue the dowel into the indicator section

  3. Pass the dowel trough the hole of the box (it should rotate freely if it doesn't sand it)

  4. Press the weight into the dowel inside the box (it should be press fit if it's loose glue it)

  5. Glue the lid into the back and check that the dowel rotates freely in both holes, if it doesn't sand it
