Tireshifter – Your Style. Your Grip. Your Shift.

The Ultimate Modular Shifter

Customize your racing setup with the perfect shifter for you!

Tireshifter combines racing-inspired design with extensive customization options. Choose between two distinct shifter styles, each offering its own shape, feel, and driving experience. With multiple sizes, interchangeable tire designs, and modular configurations, you can create a shifter that fits your grip, comfort, and style.

Make It Your Own

Every driver has different preferences. Tireshifter gives you the freedom to fine-tune your shifter to match yours.

  • Tire Designs – Choose from different tread patterns to customize the look, texture, and grip of your shifter.

  • Material Options – Use TPU or other flexible materials for a softer feel and improved grip.

  • Adjustable Weight – Add weight to achieve your preferred balance and feel.

  • Color Customization – Create your own color combinations, whether you have a multi-material 3D printer or print each part separately.

With a wide range of sizes, materials, and configurations, you can build a shifter that feels truly yours.

Four Main Versions

Tireshifter is available in four main versions, each designed to offer a different approach to customization and functionality.

  • Basic – A simple, solid, single-piece design focused on simplicity and ease of printing.

  • Modular – A multi-part design that allows for greater customization while remaining easy to assemble and built for repeated use.

  • Soft Grip – Designed for printing with TPU and other flexible materials, offering a softer touch and enhanced grip.

  • Weighted – Designed with dedicated space for added weights, allowing you to adjust the overall weight to your personal preference. The plug also lets you control exactly where the weight is positioned.

All versions are available in multiple sizes and with different tire designs, giving you even more ways to personalize your setup.

Tireshifter is more than a shifter design. It's a customizable platform built around the way you want to race. Designed to evolve, it can easily be expanded with new designs and even more customization options.

The TopGrip does not require a separate Modular version, as its Weighted version already incorporates modular functionality while also allowing weight customization. Further modular options are possible and may be introduced in a future update if there is sufficient interest.

How to choose

Don't be intimidated by all the options!

There may seem to be a lot of parts and possibilities, but choosing your Tireshifter is actually pretty straightforward.

1. Choose your shifting style

  • Handle grip – Choose the Lever.

  • Top-down grip – Choose the TopGrip.

  • Can't decide? – Start with the smaller Lever grip.

2. Choose your size

  • Lever – Available in three sizes: 60, 100, and 150 mm.

  • TopGrip – Available in one size.

3. Choose your feel and grip

  • Tire designs – The Lever offers two designs: Base (Wet) and Intermediate. The TopGrip offers three: Slick, Intermediate, and Wet.

  • Flexible materials – If you can print with TPU or other flexible materials, both shifter designs offer flexible tire options for a softer feel and improved grip.

  • Added weight – If weight and feel are important to you, choose a Weighted version. It offers the same tire options, with the added ability to customize the weight.

4. Choose your look

  • Have a multi-material printer? – Customize the colors of any version to match your personal style.

  • Printing one material at a time? – Choose the Modular version. Its separate parts can be printed in different colors or materials and then assembled to create your own unique design.

3D Print files & details

Print files & information

Please note that, following the update, I have removed all the individual .stl files and replaced them with a single .zip file due to the large number of files.

  • The print files are available in both .3MF and STL formats.

  • All designs have been printed and tested to some extent, with the exception of the SoftGrip versions, as I currently don't have the equipment to print TPU or other flexible materials.

  • The SoftGrip is designed to work with a range of flexible materials with varying levels of hardness. For the best results, I recommend avoiding very soft materials, as they may deform too easily.

  • To simplify the file and folder structure, each .3MF file contains all parts for one of the four main versions, along with the recommended print settings. For clarity, the parts are organised across separate build plates within each file.

  • In the SoftGrip .3MF files, not all tire instances are placed on the build plates, keeping the files manageable.

  • For the larger parts (100–150 mm in length), I recommend using the .3MF files named Supports if you want to print at higher speeds. These include organic supports that are easy to remove and serve mainly to stabilise the print. They add very little to the overall print time while helping to keep the print stable and clean.

  • I considered splitting the 150 mm versions into smaller parts so they could be printed without supports. However, this would significantly increase the number of files, and due to the geometry involved, the total print time would actually be longer than printing the parts with supports.

Print details

The recommended print settings, supports, etc. can be found in the provided .3mf files.

Recommended Settings:

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm

  • Infill: 15% - Gyroid

  • Supports: Some parts might need supports, depending on your printer and settings

  • Print orientation: As provided in the files

  • Material: PETG recommended, PLA, TPU or FLex

  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm

  • Bed adhesion: Brim recommended for some parts; see the print files for details

These settings provide a reliable starting point, but may need to be adjusted depending on your printer, print speed and other factors.

Consider the material used for printing when choosing your filling materials for the Weighted version, and avoid moisture or other substances that could damage the printed parts.

Assembly & Parts needed

Assembly is pretty straightforward. When using the .3MF files, all required parts are already arranged on the build plates, with the exception of the SoftGrip versions.

Due to the variety of available parts and sizes, you may need to adjust the number of tire instances on the build plates depending on the size you choose.

To use the Tireshifter with the Thrustmaster TH8S, you'll need the official adapter from Thrustmaster, which you can find here:

Hardware needed

No hardware is required to assemble the standard versions. The Weighted versions are the only ones that require additional hardware or filling materials.

  • Weighted Lever – 24 × 2 mm washers (commonly known as M8 large-diameter washers).

  • Weighted TopGrip – Standard M6 nuts.

For the Weighted Lever, you can also experiment with different filling materials. I've tested sand, bolts, and nuts, as well as combinations of these materials.

You can also use ball bearings as filling material. The plug or lid helps keep the contents securely in place and prevents rattling during use.

When using materials such as sand, make sure to keep the threads clean so the lid can still be screwed on and off smoothly.

Details - colored wheels

The details on the photos with the colored wheels are made using acrylic markers, not printed. They hold up really well, even without a clear coat, although I do recommend using one.

Of course, people with multicolor printers can print these details in a different color.

Updates

22-10-2026

The TopGrip has been extended with different tire markings. The Modular, Weighted and SoftGrip have all been updated and offer the same customization possibilities, allowing you to add different colored rims, designs or even a logo. You can also create your own logo or rim.

There are 4 main changes:

  • Added a different TopGrip tire design with text. The slicks have a soft, medium or hard version.

  • Added models that suit the modular rim designs.

  • Added a new rim version and a logo variant. The color of the rims and the background color can be changed to your liking.

  • Added base variants of the rim/logo for anyone to customize. Those files are available in .STEP format.

To keep the files as clean as possible, I added a new map for the .3MF support variants. People who want to use max. speeds or have bed adhesion problems can use these for optimal prints.

I wanted to keep the customization options for all versions, so the total number of files, including the STL files, is quite large. I recommend using the .3MF files, as they give you a complete overview in one place.

The SoftGrip tires all support the use of weights, as leaving them out won't affect anything.

Thank You / Enjoy Printing!
