This is a battery compartment for a Logitech G604 mouse that replaces the original, AA version, so that it accepts a AAA battery, instead of the normal AA battery. I switched to using a Rechargeable Duracell NiMH Duracell and have been quite pleased with how long it can last.

This is a modification to the mouse in order to achieve substantial weight savings on an otherwise heavy mouse, making it a bit more user friendly for gaming and daily long term usage.

I printed this on an Anycubic Photon Mono 4 w/ Inland Water Washable Plus Resin, a  .050mm layer height at a 30 degree angle, and 5mm off the print bed. I used automatic supports at first with decent results, and had to use a small drill bit to clear out the screw holes of some excess resin once cured. For the resin, I used recommended settings based on the Water Washable resin profile already in Anycubic Photon Workshop.

In terms of installation of this mod, I would place it as Easy/Medium Difficulty.

  1. Remove the four main mouse skates (glides) on the bottom of the mouse

  2. Unfasten the five (5) screws that hold the bottom clamshell in place,

  3. Separate the Bottom and Top clamshells from each other. Note: There are plastic tabs holding them along with the five (5) screws, and a plastic notch that sits under the left mouse click that is harder to remove. Be gentle and patient with it, as it can and will break

  4. Detach the mainboard ribbon cable from the mainboard

  5. Detach the battery cable leads from the mainboard

  6. Unfasten the three (3) screws of the OEM battery compartment that is held inside of the top clamshell

  7. Remove the battery leads from the OEM battery compartment as they will be used in the new battery holder

  8. Place the battery leads into the AAA Battery Holder. The negative (-) lead side (black wire) is the side with the spring, the positive (+) lead side (red wire) is the side that is a flat spiral. The negative lead side (-, black wire) goes on the side that has the single screw hole at the back of the model, the positive lead side (+, red wire) goes on the side with the two screw holes on either side, kind of like ears.

  9. Route the negative lead (-, black wire) through the two wire routes. The first one faces down towards the bottom of the part, the second one faces up. A pair of tweezers helps with this process

  10. Place the AAA Battery Holder back into the Top clamshell, and onto the three (3) screw mounting pegs. The two (2) screw mounting holes on the positive lead go towards the back of the mouse, and the singular screw mounting peg sits about half way up the mouse Top clamshell, just off the side wall.

  11. Screw all three (3) screws back into place. Be sure to fasten them until the stop threading into the part, but DO NOT continue fastening after this. Plastic will strip very easily, so once the screws stops threading in, it is as tight as it will ever be, and could ever be, which good enough

  12. Reassemble the mouse going in reverse of steps Five (5) through One (1).

General Note: These instructions are a first pass on this, and I will need to do better in the future. Maybe some photos or a video. - 10/11/26
