Introduction

Hello. This is the Gambit. A fun, low to no hardware toy that makes cards fly.

Please don’t shoot this at anybody’s face. It can hurt their eyes!

It includes three versions:
One full hardware version that also propels itself. (Recommended)
One less hardware version that does not propel itself.
And one no hardware version that also requires you to propel it.
I recommend using tape for all versions (see build guide).

All are fun, but I recommend the hardware versions because the no hardware version is a less reliable (it still works though).

In the photos section there are photos of how I recommend printing the arms, and how to fire the different versions

Build guide

Hardware:
1 M3 x 10 bolt (No Self Tapping)
1-2 M3 nuts (you really only need one but I made space for a second one too)
15 in. elastic cord, I used 4 mm diameter cord (Also only required for full hardware version)

First take the base piece and insert the pins into it. If pins are loose, wrap tape around them to take up space

Next place the spacers in the positions you see here

Then take the nuts and place them in their slots. The flat pare should be facing down, not the point. Also only the slot nearest the hole needs a nut. Use a screw driver to push them in all the way.

Tuning: Insert the bolt and screw it in until it hits the wall. Now place a card in the slot and keep screwing. The idea is that it will start to bend the wall until it makes contact with the card. You want the card to stay in place, but not so tight that the card doesn't come out when used. Continue this step once you fully assemble it.
No Hardware: Take the pin and insert it in the hole. Now place a card in the slot and tune it. If the pin is loose wrap one layer of tape around it and continue.

Now place your arm in this position

Next place the top plate on. Make sure every thing is nice and solid, and that the pins don't move freely

Full hardware version: Take the 15 inches of cord and tie it like this.

And here it is. Now you can tune it and get a feel for how it works. Tune it by sliding a card into the slot, you should feel resistance and it shouldn't slide out unless in use.

I have found cards fly best in this position
