Compact. Practical. Ready to Build.

This 3D-printable enclosure houses a 7-inch Nextion display with a 16 mm front-mounted latching switch, a rear female DC jack, and a rear female USB-A adapter.

The two-part design combines a front panel and rear housing to keep the display and wiring together in a tidy package.

An internal USB-to-TTL converter provides the USB serial connection to the display. See the ITEAD Nextion interface specifications.

To suit the completed circuit

The 8 mm measurement is the DC jack’s mounting size, not its internal plug size. Match the jack and plug separately.

Compatibility

The display in the build photos is marked NX8048K070_011. Check your module’s board dimensions, screen position, mounting holes, and connector clearance before printing.

Other 7-inch models may differ. Check that your switch, connectors, inserts, and converter fit the enclosure.

Suggested print settings

These are starting points rather than a tested print profile:

  • Material: CR-PLA

  • Layer height: 0.20 mm

  • Walls: 3–4 perimeters

  • Infill:100%

  • Front panel orientation: Outside face on the build plate, internal mounting features facing up

  • Rear housing orientation: Flat rear exterior on the build plate, open side facing up

  • Supports: Check the slicer preview around openings and mounting features

Keep the screen opening, connector cutouts, and insert pockets clear of loose plastic.

Assembly

  1. Print both parts and clean up the openings and insert pockets.

  2. Install four M3 × 6 mm threaded inserts in the rear housing’s enclosure mounting points and three in the front panel’s screen mounting points, using the installation method appropriate for your inserts.

  3. Secure the display with the three M3 × 6 mm screws.

  4. Fit the 16 mm latching switch into the front panel.

  5. Fit the female DC jack and USB-A adapter into the rear openings.

  6. Secure the USB-to-TTL converter inside the housing and complete the wiring according to your display, switch, and converter specifications.

  7. Check operation and route the wiring clear of the screen, mounting points, and panel edges.

  8. Close the enclosure with the four M3 × 25 mm screws.

About this design

I designed this enclosure to give my 7-inch Nextion display a tidy housing with convenient access to the front switch and rear connections.

The PC monitoring interface shown in the photos is an example; display interface files and PC software are separate from this enclosure download.

If you print one, I’d love to see your setup!
