This is a custom-designed, 3D-printable handle for a Comgrow PEI build plate.
I designed the handle in Onshape and printed a prototype to test the fit against the original metal plate. The design uses two separate printed pieces that snap together through the mounting holes.
The goal was to create a practical handle that can be printed at home without specialized equipment.
Features
Two-piece snap-together design
Custom-designed in Onshape

Printing Recommendations
Material: PETG recommended for a handle exposed to warmth; PLA can be used for initial fit testing
Layer height: 0.20 mm
Walls: 4 perimeters
Infill: 40–50%
Supports: Start with supports disabled; inspect the snap-fit features in your slicer and enable supports only if necessary
Orientation: Print each component in the orientation that gives the snap features clean edges and adequate strength
These are suggested starting settings, not settings validated through long-term testing.
Assembly
Print both components.
Inspect the snap-fit features for strings or excess material.
Carefully snap the two pieces together through the mounting holes.
Check that the pieces are fully engaged and fit securely against the plate before use.
Important Notes
This is an independently designed handle. Confirm compatibility with your particular plate before relying on it. Do not handle a hot build plate with bare hands, and allow the plate to cool before removing or installing the handle.
This design has been prototype-tested for fit, but long-term durability and heat resistance have not been established.
