The Problem

Executing keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl+C, Alt+Tab, or Shift+Click) requires pressing multiple keys simultaneously. For users who type with one hand or have limited fine motor skills, this simultaneous action is often a significant barrier. While software-based "Sticky Keys" exist, they can be unreliable across different operating systems or fail to provide clear, immediate visual and tactile feedback.

The Solution

The MX Toggle-Lock is a non-destructive physical add-on that slides securely under the keyboard. It utilizes a mechanical 4-bar linkage system that functions as a toggle clamp.

  • Easy Locking: Press down on the rear lever (Bar 2). The mechanism lowers the striker (Bar 3) onto the target key and passes a mechanical "over-center" dead point. The key stays physically depressed without any continued finger pressure.

  • Quick Release: Simply lift the lever slightly upwards to instantly break the lock and release the key.

  • Visual & Tactile Feedback: Unlike software solutions, you can immediately see and feel exactly which modifier keys are currently engaged.

Printing & Assembly

  • 100% 3D Printed: No extra hardware is required! The hexagonal pivot pins are fully 3D printable, making this a highly accessible project for anyone with a 3D printer.

  • Materials: Standard PLA or PETG works perfectly for all parts, providing the necessary rigidity for the clamping action and the structural integrity for the snap-fit pins.

  • Non-Destructive: The base structure simply slides underneath the keyboard frame. It requires no glue, screws, or permanent modifications to your Logitech device, fully respecting the contest guidelines.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Material: PLA or PETG

  • Layer Height: 0.15mm or 0.20mm (for precise tolerances on the pivot pins)

  • Infill: 15-20%

  • Supports: Required for the overhanging hooks

  • Orientation: Print the pins and bolts vertically (standing upright). I intentionally designed a chamfer on the hexagonal heads so the layers print at a slight angle. This smart design choice significantly increases the mechanical strength of the pins. I have stress-tested them thoroughly, and they do not snap under load with this orientation!

Happy printing, and enjoy a more accessible typing experience!
