I recently built a workbench out of 2x4s and was looking for a way to level out the feet. I was originally thinking of doing some super complicated twin screw design but then I realized shimming was way easier and simpler, but I didn't want just loose shims so I made a simple cap that encapsulates the shims.
There are 2 screw holes on the sides if you feel the need to screw the feet to the 2x4, but I didn't end up feeling the need to as the fit is so snug. I've included a variety of shim sizes, I printed out a few of each and just played around with them until it was level. I also attached the fusion 360 file if you wanted to make any modifications or make your own thickness shim (the shims are ever so slightly smaller than the cap opening to make getting them in and out easier).
I printed mine out of PLA+ with 2 perimeters and 15% grid infill and I have no concerns with its ability to hold weight.
