Make a bookcase that fits your dollhouse perfectly. Set the size, choose your scale, and the generator builds it, with board thicknesses tuned to your nozzle so the small scales still print cleanly.

Customise your own

Open the .scad file in OpenSCAD (free, openscad.org), go to Window > Customizer, and change the settings. Press F5 to preview and F6 then F7 to export an STL.

What you can change:

  • Scale: 1/6 fashion doll, 1/12 standard, 1/16, 1/24 or 1/48

  • Size: enter the printed size in mm, or the real-world size in cm or metres and let it scale for you

  • Shelves: 1-10 levels, open or closed back, narrow, medium, deep or custom.

  • Dividers: set a different number on each shelf, arranged in a grid, staggered like brickwork, or at random

  • Drawers: a row of 1-4 drawers with a finger notch, a slot, a knob or a handle

  • Knobs and handles: printable ones that plug into the drawer holes, with spares

  • Books: a full set sized to fill your shelves, split into colour groups for printing

  • Legs: straight, tapered, bracket or bun feet

  • Trim: plain, simple or classic base and top

There’s also an assembled preview that shows the bookcase standing up with the drawers, knobs and books in place, labelled with its printed and real-world size.

Printing

  • Prints lying on its back with no supports

  • PLA, any FDM printer

  • Set your nozzle and layer height in the Printer tab. Thin parts snap to whole nozzle widths, and you’ll get a warning if your settings won’t print well

  • Tested on: Flashforge Adventurer 5M Pro, 0.8 nozzle with 0.4 layer height and 0.4 nozzle with 0.2 layer height.

  • Drawers: the default 0.3mm clearance worked well on my printer. Raise it if drawers stick, lower it if they rattle

  • Knobs and handles are tiny, so print a few at once or add a brim

  • Books: the sample book files have all colours on one plate, so split to objects on a multi-colour printer or print in one colour and paint. In the generator you can export one colour group at a time

  • At 1/6 the parts may not all fit one plate, so export the bookcase, drawers and books separately

Assembly

Slide in the drawers, push the knobs or handles into their holes (a dot of glue if loose), and fill with books.
