8-Bit Pixel Yoshi Egg Box - multicolour without AMS, magnetic lid, no supports

Yoshi's spotted egg in 14 x 16 pixels of white, green and black, as the lid of a 35 mm deep box. The front holds with four 6 x 1 mm magnets, and every green spot is its own part.

3 colours (black, green, white) without an AMS. Every colour is its own flat part: the inserts press into pockets in a black base, the way the pixels sit in the sprite. One filament per plate, no colour changes, no supports.

A 35 mm deep box whose lid is the pixel art. 4 pairs of 6 x 1 mm magnets hold the lid shut - no hinges, no screws.

You will also need: 8 round magnets of 6 x 1 mm and some glue.

Checked before export. All meshes are closed and slice without repair, and the parts were checked for collisions in their assembled position: 0 mm3 of overlap. The magnet pockets of the body and the lid line up on the same axis.

Plus a 3MF per colour plate, a small fit test and a colour map.

Printing

PLA, 0.2 mm layers, 15 % infill, 4 perimeters. Every part prints flat, face down, no supports. Use a 3 mm brim on the smallest insert (09): it is too small to hold the bed alone. About 17 h 59 min and 193 g in total. The files are already oriented - do not rotate them.

Print the fit test first: three inserts at 0.17, 0.25 and 0.33 mm. The model uses 0.25. If another one fits your printer better, ask and I will send that version.

Assembly

1. Press the colour inserts into the black base (a drop of glue makes them permanent).

2. Glue the black base onto the lid, centred (5 mm border all round).

3. Glue the 8 magnets into their pockets in the body and the lid - check the polarity twice.

4. Put the lid on.
