Work in progress...

Christmas time is approaching and it's time to start our X-Mas projects now.
So I dare to provide an early release of my latest model railway project...

After successfully performing several test prints and pillar assemblies, currently the print for a complete ramp is running, which will take several days to complete.
After finishing this step, additional images will be provided.

Motivation

When bulding a temporary model railway bridge or ramp, you need pillars with various sizes.
Using Lego for this purpose did not look too realistic.
For this reason I designed a pluggable model railway pillar system, that allows you to create any pillar height you need.

We used the Märklin Rail-C system for use with our design.

Earlier I designed a modular bridge pillar system with modern concrete style pillars:

Based on this modular design I now created a modular pillar system with pillars built of bricks.
This might look better in model railways of earlier railway eras.

I designed various bridge parts for these pillars, so you are able to build curved and straight bridge tracks.

Examples:

You can find the bridge elements in this collection:

Print

Printed with PLA+ (gray)
To build a comlete ramp or bridge with ramps, you need quite a number of pillars.
I set up a number of prints that generate the parts required to assemble complete sets of pillars with various heights.
Use the ones that suit best to your individual demand.

Assembly

[Pillar complete]
The resulting pillar height will be n * 5.6mm.
Simply snap base part, center parts (as required) and top part together.

[Base part]
Standard base part:
   Pillar_Bricks_base_2x56_v00

[Center parts]
   Pillar_Bricks_center_1x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_2x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_3x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_4x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_5x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_10x56_v00
   Pillar_Bricks_center_15x56_v00

[Top part]
Insert 2x
    PIllar_Bricks_rail_support_v02
into the dove tail grooves of the parts
    Pillar_Bricks_top_1rail_2x56_v01

[Solo]
Pillar elements used as single elements for small height at the beginning or end of a ramp.
Insert 2x
    PIllar_rail_support_v02
into the dove tail grooves of the parts
   Pillar_Bricks_top_1rail_1x56_solo_v01
   Pillar_Bricks_top_1rail_2x56_solo_v01

Hint for rail support element assembly:
The rail support elements (PIllar_Bricks_rail_support_v02) have a very tight fit.
After positioning them in the dove tail cutout of the top elements, pushing them into position using a vise results in good results.

Note:
I hope you have fun with this model.
Feedback, suggestions and criticism are welcome ... I always like to improve my designs.
