A mini printer deserves a mini enclosure. Works well to contain / vent out printing fumes and keep temperature up for high-temp materials (like ABS/ASA/PETG).

Highlights:

  • Easy access to the print bed thanks to the angled opening (flap door rests on top of enclosure when open)
  • Compact dimensions that fit in small spaces, but still large enough for the printer, spool, and accessories.
  • All “hardware” is printed on your Mini+
  • No special tools required, just cut with scissors
  • Quick assembly: everything snaps together
  • Optional air duct/filtration support

Materials:

Assembly instructions:

  1. Print 14x 80mm brackets. Ideally in PETG, but PLA should be fine. Easy to swap later on.
  2. Print 8x 150mm brackets
  3. Cut the clear sheets following the diagram. You will end up with 7 pieces total (2x sides, 2x flaps, front, back, and top). You don’t need to be super precise with your cutting - a couple mm here and there is not going to ruin anything. Draw guide lines you will be cutting along and carefully cut with scissors. If you prefer using a knife/cutter, you can use an edge of a free plastic sheet as a cutting guide (or use a ruler/etc).
  4. Snap in the 80mm brackets to assemble sheets into the frame. It is easiest to start from the back+side panels and do the top last.
  5. The front flaps are taped together (vertically) with clear scotch tape. The "door" (consisting of the two flaps) is then taped to the edge of the enclosure top.
  6. Attach the long 150mm brackets along the flaps to help the door rest on the frame.
  7. (Optional) Plug in the usb extension cord to make it easier to send files to the printer.

OPTIONAL AIR DUCT:

  1. Print the optional duct connector
  2. Cut out an opening on the bottom of the back panel
  3. Glue the duct connector to the frame
  4. Attach the air duct hose and inline blower to vent the air outside (i.e. through a window). Alternatively add a HEPA filter on the other end of the duct to filter fumes.
