This Yagi is my standard for Backpacking. I have seen many solutions for SOTA, but this one from OE6STD is very convincing:
- lightweight (230g)
- small package size (21 x 37cm)
- no assembly needed, just unfold and extend the boom
- cheap and easy to source materials
We also make these Yagis in our annually antenna workshops together with our newcomers in OE6.
UPDATE 24.Sept.2022:
- Corrected mistakes in the manual
- Fixed the Boom Mounts that had still bug that made the screwholes asymetrical
- Added OpenSCAD file for convenience
Variants
- Flanged SMA connector on boom with (RG-58/RG-316)
- Cable clamp for coax tail (RG-58/RG-316)
Note: You have to be careful if you are using the RG-58 variant with a flanged SMA connector. The Cable is quite rigid and might rip off the connector if not treated carefully
3D Printed Parts

- 1x Boom Mount for 20mm pipe
- 1x Boom Mount for Dipole

Important: Some pipes seem to vary in outer diameter a bit. Change “d_pipe” in OpenSCAD file accordingly if you got a bad batch.
