This is a two-piece solution for mounting a Samsung portable T5/T7 SSD to anywhere you'd like. I attached mine to the back of my computer case with some Velcro.
This model was designed around a Samsung T5 portable SSD, but should work just fine with the T7 model, also.
This solution includes a few models. One backplate which is required, and at least one of the front mounting plates
Added a V2 with a bottom cutout to have the ssd usb-c cord come out the bottom
It's also possible to stack front plates together. Why not stack 2, or 3 (or more) SSD's together? Just use longer screws that are able to reach the threaded heatset inserts, and in theory you can stack as many as you want. Two front plates tighten down nice and snug with (4x) m3x30 screws
Required:
Samsung_T5_backplate
Required, but choose at least one
Samsung_T5_Frontplate
[Closed on ¾ sides, partial open bottom]
Samsung_T5_Frontplate_V2
[4 sides open except for screw hole locations]
[Saves *some* filament and time]
Samsung_T5_Frontplate_V2_Cutout
[Everything is the same as the V2, except a small cutout to access the USB-C port from the bottom]
You will need to print at least one frontplate and one backplate.
You will also need some additional items:
- (4x) m3x16 screws
- (4x) m3x5x4 heatset inserts. [heatsets from DFH here]
*the heatsets linked are the exact ones I designed this around
Recommended Printing Settings:
Infill: More than 25%
Resolution: .2 (layer height)
Nozzle: .4mm
Supports: None
Instructions:
- Print one of each of the model pieces
- Insert (4) m3x5x4 heatset inserts into the four holes on the Samsung_T5_Backplate using a soldering iron with the correct heatset tip.
- Attach the front plate to the backplate with (4) m3x16 screws
- The backplate has spots to attach Velcro, or 3M tape, or adhesive of your choice.
- Insert SSD
- Do SSD things.
I will upload a model with mounting screw holes shortly.
