With this fully parametric remix you can customize the dimensions of SpongyBob's original Spice Rack Pullout design. Want to use wider spice containers? Need a taller version of the top shelf? No problem at all, just follow the instructions below:

  1. Download and install Blender (It's free!) - If you already have it installed make sure you are on at least Version 4.1.0.
  2. In Blender, open up the Preferences menu, go to Add-ons, and search for and enable the 3D-Print Toolbox Add-on (we need this to export the STL-Files for printing).
  3. Download the attached .blend-File and open it in Blender. In the top right you can enter your desired dimensions (see the attached screen shot). If you can't see the dimensions make sure Main_Size is selected in the bottom right.
  4. Select the objects named “spice-*” one after the other and click the Export-Button (see screen shot).  If there is no Export-Button hit “N” on the keyboard and/or make sure 3D-Print is selected. If there is no 3D-Print Tab make sure the 3D-Print-Toolbox Add-on is enabled (see Step 2).
  5. Open the exported STL-Files in your preferred Slicer (they are in the same folder as the .blend-File). All models can be printed without supports, spice-top-rail needs to be flipped over though.

A couple tips for the dimensions/settings:

  • Shelf Width: Measure the diameter of your shelf containers and add about 7mm (leaves a mm of space left and right of the container, depending on Wall Thickness).
  • Shelf Depth: Multiply the container diameter with the desired amount of containers and add at least 7mm (more is better, so you can comfortably remove the outermost containers).
  • Shelf Height: Measure the height of your shelf containers and add at least 25mm, more helps with easy removal.
  • Diameters: Enter the exact respective diameter, a bit of wiggle room will be automatically added.
  • Shelf Count: Enter as many as you want and as your build plate allows :)
  • Wall Thickness: Best to leave that alone, except for maybe extremely wide shelves.
  • Cap Design Version: Enter “1” for SpongyBob's original design or “2” for my variant that is a bit more in line with the shelves.
  • Screwholes: Whether or not the bottom rail has screw holes. If you intend to use double sided tape (like I did) you can untick this box.
