By nature, this vase is not waterproof, you must take measures to make it waterproof (eg by using epoxy), still there is no guarantee that a vase may not leak water. Use at your own risk.

I recently decided to throw out all soil for my indoor plants and go with a pure hydroponic approach.

Therefore I designed an insert for the Ikea Vildapel pot so that you can fill in your clay granulate. It consists of an outer vase and an inner vase which holds a Leni water gauge. The baseplate is just an optional addon I thought to be useful to bring some more distance between the inner and outer vase floor. Feel free not to use it if you dont find it useful :)

There are three possible uses for this vase:

Option A: Free Standing

Just print the baseplate, the inner and outer vase

Option B: Wall Mounted

Print the baseplate, the inner and outer vase and the wallmount. I used M6 screws for the wallmount and a washer to mount it to my desk, but feel free to use whatever fits your needs.

Option C: Ceiling Mounted

Print the baseplate, the inner and outer vase and the HangerMount. Use ropes of some kind to attach it to the Hanger and place the Vildapel inside the mount.

Applying epoxy to the outer vase

Although some of my prototypes were actually somehow waterproof, I highly recommend to use epoxy resin for the outer vase (i.e I just used a brush to add a small layer of resin at the inner part of the Outer vase).

I do not recommend to print in Vase Mode, as the vase bends too much and no longer fits (and it will be even harder to make it waterproof).

Bonus information: Both the wall mount and the ceiling mount can be used to hold either the Vildapel planter or just the outer vase itself (I printed so many of them that I did not have enough Ikea Vildapel planters..).

In terms of material I would recommend PLA. For infills I added a recommendation to every STL. Otherwise just use the .3mf files.

Supports are not needed in general.

As for the majority of my stuff, I use onshape to model it. Everything is publicly available, so feel free to extend or modify it according your needs.

Please let me know if theres something you would like to have improved.
