My hamshack is in my unfinished basement and space is limited. I wanted a solution for mounting my microphone arm that wouldn't involve my desk. I came up with this piece which is screwed to the rafter from below and the side with four screws.
To connect the boom to the mount, I took a bolt that fit inside the steel tube of the boom and ground the head down into an “L” shape so that the foot of the “L” would protrude from the boom tube. You can see that in my photo. The bolt goes up through the mount and a washer and nut hold it together. This allows the boom to swivel.
