Made for two reasons:
1) to protect the bottom of the Gen 1 or Gen 2 Origin
2) If using the long 5mm end mill (or other long bit) while extended below the machine, you can rest it here without having to tilt it on its side, or damaging anything (work surface, workstation, etc.)
the 3 inch one also works for the “Fake Router for Gridding” Deep probe version
We made the 3 inch version (the original), but made two shorter ones for anyone who wants to try that. Ours is filled with sand, as such as used triangle infill (20%). Caution to not fill with sand to the very top, or if dry enough, it might get sucked in by the cooling fans. Fishing lead is fine too - do all this at your own risk.
