Main selling points:

  • Pliers are clearly visible so it's easy to find the right one
  • It's pretty small for a horizontal mount
  • The width is customizable so it works just as well for a pair of pliers as with a dozen of them (assuming you print the right size).
  • It's made to hold pliers of different sizes (well, different small pliers that is)
  • It's made for T-Nuts (though I might add a non T-nut version in the future)

I tried a handfull of different mounts but they were all either catering to a specific size pliers not compatible with mine, hid or obfuscated the head of the pliers making it harder to find the right one, or ate too much real estate on my pegboard. I finally gave up on finding the perfect one and started sketching. After many iterations and failed attempts, I believe I've found a solution that is flexible enough to handle most brands of (small) pliers.

Instructions

  1. Print both mounts and arms followed by the body of choice. The body comes in 3 sizes: 81mm, 121mm or 161mm. Length -8mm = space available for hanging pliers.
  2. Attach mounts to IKEA Skådis. Left mount goes on your left side when standing infront of the pegboard.
  3. Attach the body to the arms. It should be a snug fit. If it doesn't go in then try filing a it around the edges of the body.
  4. Hang the arms over the mounts.
  5. Hang pliers over the mount and enjoy.

Dimensions

The arms are 10mm wide and you need two of them. The width of the main body is customizable but comes in 3 sizes, 81mm, 121mm and 161mm. So using the supplied bodies the width will either be 101mm, 141mm or 181mm.

The arms protrude 165mm from the pegboard. The gap between the main body and the pegboard is ~20mm.

Print settings

I printed this on a Prusa Mini with 15% infill using the 0.2mm Quality profile in PrusaSlicer.

Supports are needed for the arms. I painted on supports on the rear section of the arm but had no supports on the triangle cut out.

The wall mounts and main body need no support, however I printed the triangle body standing up with a brim. Although it's technically a weaker print than printing laying down I doubt it'll cause any issues. Your milage may vary.

What you need:

M2.5 T-Nuts (2), M2.5 nuts (2) and M2.5x12mm screws (2).

For easier alignment you can also use the alignment guides from the T-Nuts project (optional).
