These fit are intended for mounting a 1.5 inch, self-adhesive sorbothane hemisphere. Sorbothane is an excellent material for vibration isolation. I do believe they help quiet the printer and you also won't feel nearly as much movement transferred to the surface the printer is sat upon. I've used these hemispheres for over a year and I'm very pleased with the performance.
The challenge I faced was that because they really followed the rail of the printer, they couldn't accommodate the foot setup in my enclosure. I needed to adjust them out and in from front to back. So this design allows them to slide up and down the rail, but also pivot from right to left. Even though there's only one nut, it seems to provide adequate force to keep the foot from sliding around. Which means you can use these regardless of putting the printer in an enclosure or using it on an counter.
Tips
- Slice your own file for best results.
- There are model files out there to print your own nuts for this, but I find the metal ones are ideal.
- I'm using M4 hardware, but M5 would likely fit as well.
- In case it's not obvious, the peg should go into the extrusion slot.
